Eliisa Suvanto has been appointed Checkpoint Helsinki’s Program Manager. Suvanto will start in her position in September together with Artistic Director Paul O’Neill. As Program Manager Suvanto will be in charge of realising Checkpoint Helsinki’s program and of the organisation’s administration.
Eliisa Suvanto currently works as the Director of Titanik, a gallery and residency located in Turku and run by artists' association Arte. In recent years Suvanto has been involved in launching and realising Arte’s large scale site-specific projects; Valtio+ (2015) in Turku’s former county prison and Parantola (2016) at Alvar Aalto’s Paimio Sanatorium. She is also one of the founding members of Porin kulttuurisäätö, a collective dedicated to questioning the structures of the art world and our society.
Suvanto received an MA in Visual Culture from Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture in 2014.
