Elina Vainio (b. 1981, based in Helsinki, Finland) graduated from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts Time and Space department in 2013. Her art examines our surrounding world and reality through its various types of material constructions. She utilizes video, photography, printing methods, found objects and images in her installations, in an attempt to trace the historical development of images, ideas and concepts and what shapes our contemporary culture.
Vainio's recent exhibitions include Parallax – Geographical Resonances, Laboratorio Arte Alameda/Mexico City, Mexico, On a Blue Planet, Åbo Akademi Observatory/Turku, Finland, Young Artists, Kunsthalle/Helsinki, Finland and Cave Allegories, Retretti Art Centre/Punkaharju, Finland.
